November SICP Advanced Training Courses
Coming Up Next at VIU
The November 2010 schedule of the Advanced Training Program is full of events.
Two delegations selected by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, one from the Shanghai Environmental Protection Bureau and one from the Ministry of Environmental Protection of China will attend training courses of the Program.
An Advanced Course on Local Sustainability and Action, targeting Central and South Eastern European Countries, will be held in Italy and in Hungary from November 7 to 17 in collaboration with the Regional Environmental Center.

14th International Fair of Material & Energy Recovery and Sustainable Development
Ecomondo, one of the most important International Fairs devoted to sustainable development and new green lifestyles, will be held in Rimini from November 3 to 6.
TEN Center is partnering the conference on “The Italian plastic chain: consumers guarantees” to be held on November 5th by Consorzio CARPI, a consortium which manages the entire plastic recycling chain in collaboration with other industries involved in each phase.

The Challenge of Sustainable Mobility: Agreement Signed Between Italy and China
On the 7th of October 2010 in Rome, the Italian Environment Minister, Stefania Prestigiacomo, and the Chinese Minister of Science and Technology, Wan Gang, signed an agreement to intensify the partnership between the two countries on environmental issues. In particular, Italy will also collaborate actively within the program on electric vehicles launched in China in 2009.

An Off-shore Port in the Adriatic Sea!
The Italian minister of Infrastructure, Altero Matteoli, the minister of Public Administration and Innovation, Renato Brunetta and the President of the Venice Port Authority, Paolo Costa, have announced plans for the new Venice off-shore port.
The goal is to guarantee the maritime commercial traffic, whilst at the same time to safeguard the particular geophysical structure of the Venice Lagoon.

The First Italian 100% Renewable Energy Powered Motorway
On January 1st 2011, 30 km of the A18 motorway connecting the cities of Catania and Syracuse, in Sicily, will be completely powered by the sun.
The project, which has cost 60 million €uros, will avoid using 31 thousand tons of oil and save 10 thousand tons of CO2 emissions each year.
