Recycled Tetra Pak Containers Used to Produce Paper
04 March 2011
tetra-pakAn innovative process to produce paper from recycled Tetra Pak containers has been developed by the Lucart Group, which already produce various lines of environmentally friendly tissue paper for domestic and professional use.
Since non-bleached Tetra Pak's cellulose fibers have characteristics comparable to virgin cellulose, the paper resulting from this new process is particularly resistant and absorbent.
The separation of the containers' different components (plastic, aluminum, cellulose fibers) is made through mechanic and physical separation without using any chemical substance. Plastic and aluminum are then sent to other plants for recycling, thus adding another positive effect to the process.
This innovation was awarded with a prize during the 2010 edition of Innovazione Amica dell'Ambiente (Environmentally Friendly Innovation), promoted by Legambiente, an Italian environmental association.
