New European Topic Centre for Climate Change |
09 March 2011 |
In January 2011 a new research centre was created under contract to the European Environment Agency (EEA).
The European Topic Centre on Climate Change impacts, vulnerability and Adaptation (ETC/CCA) will be one of the several international consortia which have been assisting the EEA in recent years by working on specific environmental topics. The Centre is headed by the Italian Euro-Mediterranean Center for Climate Change (CMCC) and consists of nine other European partners, among which Thetis Spa (Venice, Italy) can be counted. The aim of the ETC/CCA is to provide high quality and science based support to the EEA and its European Environment Information and Observation Network (EIONET) in the area of climate change impacts, vulnerability and adaptation. Thanks to the cooperation with this new research centre the EEA aims to help achieve significant and measurable improvement in Europe's environment by providing timely, targeted, relevant and reliable information to policymakers and the public.
