Environmental Monitoring

Environmental sustainable development is strictly linked to a wide knowledge of environmental conditions and processes. Collecting and analysing reliable and up-to-date data is essential to manage the environment and the pollution source in an effective way and to understand which interventions and policies must be adopted.
The importance of environmental monitoring comes also from a common awareness of the risks for people's health deriving from a polluted environment.

Main objectives

  • to present the legislation on environmental monitoring in force at a European and national level;
  • to provide participants with international and national experience on environmental monitoring;
  • to offer an overview on the main challenges linked with different pollutant's sources and matrix monitoring;
  • to provide examples of public participation to reduce emissions.

Topics

  • Pollution Monitoring System at Local Scale
