Earth Hour, the famous event promoted by WWF to raise awareness on the importance of environmental protection to preserve our planet, returns this year and will be celebrated on March 29.

As in the past editions, Earth Hour will ask people to do one simple thing: switch off the light for one hour, from 8.30 to 9.30 pm, as a commitment to take further steps to protect the environment.

This main event is, however, just the culmination of activities that have been and will be developed during the year. Beside individual actions an initiative challenging cities to present inspiring and credible urban development plans will be repeated for the second year and the Global Earth Hour Capital crowned on March 27 in Vancouver, last year winner.

Furthermore a new crowdfunding and crowdsourcing platform, called Earth Hour Blue, has been launched to seek even more collective involvement for specific environmental and social projects selected by WWF.
