First Global Wind Day
10 June 2009
June 5-25, 2009 In 2009 the European Wind Energy Association (EWEA) joined forces with the Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC) in order to coordinate the first Global Wind Day, after the success of the European Wind Day 2007 and 2008.
The Global Wind Day is an awareness campaign for the promotion of wind energy worldwide. Its message is global: wind power works - it tackles climate change, it helps diminishing energy dependence on fossil fuels, and it is an intelligent investment.

Across 25 countries worldwide a series of events is currently taking place, both reaching out for and being powered by the people.
On June 15, thousands of public events will be organised simultaneously.

In this framework, the Chinese Renewable Energy Industry Association is organising the international conference ‘China’s low carbon development pathway’, which will be held in Beijing on June 19-20.

In Italy the celebrations for the Global Wind Day are being held in Rome until June 25, under the coordination of ANEV (Wind Energy National Association). The exhibit area is located in the park of Villa Borghese, and meetings and conferences are scheduled in order to address the main technical, legal and environmental aspects of electricity generation from wind.
In addition, many other events linked to wind and aimed at involving citizens will be held in several Italian cities.
