NATO Advanced Research Workshop on Environmental Security in South-Eastern Europe

VIU, Venice, Italy. December 3-5, 2009 The TEN Center of the VIU co-organizes the Advanced Research Workshop on International Regulation Implementation for Environmental Security in South-Eastern Europe (SEE).
The workshop is supported by The NATO Science for Peace and Security Programme and will convene public officials, policy-makers and experts both from NATO and non-NATO Member States, including representatives of international organizations involved in SEE and specialized in implementation of international environmental agreements.

The 3-day workshop will highlight the main environmental concerns related to security in SEE countries, with a particular focus on: Climate Change and Water Management; analysis of the most relevant international agreements in SEE; assessment of the major implementation challenges related to those agreements and evaluation of their correct implementation for reducing the risks to environmental security.
The geographical scope of the analysis will include the countries of South-Eastern Europe, in particular Croatia, Serbia, the Republic of Macedonia, Montenegro, Slovenia, Albania, Austria, Bosnia Herzegovina, Italy, Bulgaria and Romania.
The outcomes of the workshop will be collected in a book published by Springer.
