5th Annual International Congress on Sustainable Transport
14 October 2009
Mexico City, Mexico. October 12-14, 2009 The 5th International Conference on Sustainable Transport (ICST) opened on Monday, October 12, in Mexico City and closes today after three days of conference, workshops and exchange on the themes of urban mobility and sustainable transport solutions.
The event, organised by the World Resources Institute and its Center for Sustainable Transport, and supported by several international partners among which the Italian Trade Commission (ICE), is the most important conference in Latin America dedicated to such issues.

This year’s focus “Low Carbon, Competitive Cities” has the aim of bringing the most urgent issues on Climate Change, Sustainable Transport and Urbanism together for the development of more mobility-oriented public policies.
Latin American cities are experiencing the global problems resulting from the impact of climate changes and the intensive increase of private traffic. The conference aims at fostering international cooperation between private companies and governments in order to better exchange and support research and investments for integral projects on sustainable urban mobility and development."
