The Course on Local Sustainability and Action II
28 September 2009
VIU, Venice, Italy. Sept 27 - Oct 3, 2009 In order to effectively reach global significance, Sustainability should start from local actions.
With this purpose Venice International University, in collaboration with the Regional Environmental Center and Agroinnova, and with the sponsorship of the Italian Ministry of Environment, organized the second edition of the "Course on Local Sustainability and Action" which is opening today, September 28, and will be held at VIU (San Servolo, Venice -Italy) until October 3, 2009.
This training week follows the first part of the course that took place in Montenegro last May and will be followed by a three-days closing session in Budapest, at the REC Center, from October 3 to October 6.

The 40 participants are local policy makers coming from municipalities, local agencies, NGOs of the Visegrad countries and are attending the advanced training course with the aim of sharing their environmental key issues in order to create a network able to help them foster sustainability at the local level.
They will participate in the lecturing sessions and panel discussions, but they will be also strongly involved in an interactive way, since half of the program is devoted to workshops, role plays and group works. Moreover, in Venice a site visit on the lagoon environment is scheduled to discover this unique ecosystem and to underline the role of the local actions in the environment protection and public awareness."
