Overcoming Barriers to a New Energy System. Yale Climate and Energy Institute Conference
14 April 2010
New Haven, Connecticut, USA. April 23 - 24, 2010 Despite the worldwide agreement about the necessity to reduce fossil fuels consumption to contrast the climate change as well as to enforce sustainable economic growth, clean renewable energy still accounts for only a very small portion of the global energy production. Indeed wind, solar and geothermal energy productions contribute less than 1% of total power produced annually, as estimated by the International Energy Agency. This low quote is due to barriers in the fields of finance, policy, and technology development, including obstacles like uncertainty in project investment, inadequate incentives, and the gap between research, development and successful commercialization of new technologies.

The first annual conference organized by the Yale Climate and Energy Institute will be devoted to discussing these barriers that prevent clean energy from achieving full-scale deployment as well as solutions for overcoming those barriers.
Different stakeholders, coming from scientific area, policy, business, and international affairs will meet at Yale to discuss on this topic. Among speakers will be present Dr. Rajendra K. Pachauri, IPCC Chairman and Director of the new Yale Climate and Energy Institute."
