Milano Taxi - An Electric Taxi!
05 August 2010
Urban Sustainability is a key issue in many Italian cities and Milan is an optimal case study. It is the second biggest city in Italy and its traffic problems cause many problems to citizens together with increasing the air pollution. The Municipality and the Agency in charge of transport (AMAT-Mi) have been working on this issue for many years and several initiatives have been carried out to solve these problems: no-traffic areas, car sharing, car polling and bicycle paths. A more recent idea to support this approach is the electric taxi. A prototype studied by Volkswagen, the Politecnico - University of Milan and the School of Design was presented to the Milan Municipality.
This prototype will be used in the project of electric mobility of Milan Municipality in collaboration with A2A and the Municipality of Brescia and will create 200 charging points by 2020. These are relevant commitments for the Italian e-mobility."
