Infrastructure Project of the Year
17 December 2010
On December 2nd 2010, in New York the 12th annual Platts 2010 Global Energy Awards took place.
The goal of these Awards is to recognize those who have transcended the status quo in the name of excellence in leadership, innovation and performance.

To clarify and enhance the Global Energy Awards program in 2010, Platts organized the traditional eighteen performance categories under five main section headings: Vision and Leadership, Operational Excellence, Outstanding Programs, Premier Projects and Leading Technologies.
The Adriatic LNC won the Award in the Premier Project section, under the category “Infrastructure Project of the Year”.

The Adriatic LNC is the world’s first offshore Gravity Based Structure (GBS) for unloading, storing and regasifying Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG).
The company, located near Treviso, was established in 2005 by Qatar Terminal Limited (45%), ExxonMobil Italiana Gas (45%) and Edison (10%).

The Adriatic LNG Terminal with a capacity of 8 billion meters (equal to 10% of the country’s entire gas consumption) contributes to increase and diversify Italy’s traditional sources of energy imports, thus contributing to the security and competitiveness of Italy’s energy supplies. The Terminal has been declared a project of Italian and European strategic interest respectively by CIPE (Interministerial Institute for Economic Planning) and by the EU Commission.
