The United Nations proclaimed 2010 to be the International Year of Biodiversity. Throughout the year several initiatives will be organized to spread information, promote the protection of biodiversity and encourage organizations, institutions, companies and individuals to take direct action to reduce the constant loss of biological diversity worldwide. The celebrations for the International Year of Biodiversity are led by the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD). On the pages of the official website, you will be able to find more information about the important role biodiversity plays in our lives, what countries are already doing to combat biodiversity loss, and how the International Year of Biodiversity is being celebrated worldwide." |
