How to easily explore the European Emission Trading Scheme: the ETS Data Viewer
18 June 2010
To control and reduce greenhouse gas emissions in Europe some mechanisms were introduced which should be adopted by countries in order to reach the Kyoto Protocol target. Among these mechanisms probably the most important is the European Emission Trading Scheme (EU-ETS).
The EU-ETS has been brought up to date with information coming from the Community Independent Transaction Log (CITL), run by the European Commission, which checks and records all transactions taking place within the trading scheme.

To explore the information contained in the EU-ETS in a simple way, the Emission Trading Scheme (ETS) data viewer is now available.
Using this tool it is possible to analyze the aggregated data by country, by sector and by year on the verified emissions, allowances and surrendered units of the more than 12,000 installations.
The coverage of the data for 2009 is now complete and the installations which reported verified emissions for 2009 emitted 99% of emissions recorded in 2008.

Enjoy the show!
