2009 World Ocean Conference

May 11-15, Indonesia The 2009 World Ocean Conference (WOC), which will be held from May 11 to 14 in Manado, North Sulawesi, Indonesia, will address the role of oceans in relation to climate change.

The conference will be attended by Ministers and High Level Government Officials as well as by Senior Officials from Multilateral Organizations, and is expected to create a more aligned global vision and commitments from participating governments and institutions to work together to improve marine resource management.
Meetings and scientific seminars will focus on the current issues in the marine field which are related to climate change, and how the world can wisely utilize the ocean without threatening marine life and the livelihood of the people."
