The World's Biggest Rooftop PV Plant

To Be Built in Padua, Italy On July 24, 2009, the Italian logistic and transport company Interporto di Padova SpA announced to be about to build the world biggest solar plant on rooftop so far.
The new solar plant will be built on the roof of the Interporto di Padova warehouses by SOLON Spa, a leading Italian manufacturer of photovoltaic systems, member of the SOLON Group SE based in Berlin.

The agreement between the two companies has already been signed and the construction phase will start in September 2009.
The plant will extend over an area of 250,000 square meters and will be made up of about 67,500 photovoltaic modules. With a total capacity of 15 MWp the photovoltaic field will surpass by 3 MWp the General Motors’ PV plant installed in Zaragoza, Spain.
The expected electricity production will be of 17 million kWh per year, saving about 9 thousand tonnes of CO2 annually."
