China to Exempt Green Vehicles from Taxation |
12 July 2011 |
The Chinese State Council is working on a new regulation concerning taxation of transports that exempts electric cars, fuel-cell vehicles and hybrid vehicles from taxation.
The regulation will take effect on January 1, 2012 and is integrated in the Vehicle and Vessel Tax Law which stipulates that "tax reductions and exemptions should be granted for vehicles and vessels that save energy or use new energy". These new benefits are in addition to the huge subsidies offered in 2010 that is a maximum subsidy of 60,000 yuan to buyers of pure electric vehicles and 50,000 Yuan for plug-in hybrid purchases. |
