Hertz Helps Shanghai to Promote Electric Vehicles |
16 September 2011 |
The city of Shanghai was chosen earlier this year as the international electric vehicle pilot city by the Chinese government, in the framework of the Electric Vehicle Initiative (EVI). EVI is carried out by Clean Energy Ministerial, a global forum that encourages the use of clean energy technologies, and aims to promote the deployment of electric vehicles in urban areas by strengthening the collaboration among electric vehicle industries, local governments and research communities.
Hertz, one of the most important car rental companies worldwide, has recently signed an agreement to be part of this pilot project in Shanghai. Pairing with GE Industrial Solutions China, responsible for installing the charging stations, Hertz will launch an electric vehicle rental program in Jiading district. |
