Il Sole a Scuola – The Sun at School |
23 March 2012 |
The second edition of the "Il sole a scuola" (The sun at school) initiative was launched on March 20, 2012. The project, supported by the Italian Ministry for the Environment, Land and Sea, aims to finance the construction of small photovoltaic systems on the roofs of Italian schools and to raise the student's awareness about renewable energies and energy efficiency. The total allocated amount is 3 million euro, and the photovoltaic installations will be 100% financed by the Ministry (up to a maximum of 40.000 euro for each application), at no additional costs for the school administrations. Presenting the project, the Minister for the Environment Corrado Clini underlined the fact that this initiative is both a concrete step for the spreading of sustainable technologies in the country and a chance to involve the new generations in the building up of a greener future.
