Is fresh water from the tap as good as the bottled one? In Italy tap water is drinkable and its quality is regularly checked. Now a new step towards higher quality certification has been made by Herambiente, a big utility company serving 170 municipalities in Northern Italy.

HERAmbiente S.p.A. (Ravenna, Italy) is a corporate organization that manages services related to the water cycle (potability, wastewater treatment, sewers), the use of energy resources (distribution and sale of natural gas and energy, energy savings, district heating and innovative solutions), and other environmental issues (waste collection and disposal, city cleaning, thermal waste treatment and composting).

Now all the citizens living in the areas served by HERAmbiente will be more informed about drinking water quality since they will be able to check it by themselves.. Their monthly bill will in fact show the values of 13 water quality parameters, comparing them to law standards.

This is not an unique case in Italy, also in Venice, for instance, citizens are informed on municipal water quality, but HERAmbiente is the first to include such a detailed list of quality parameters.
