Training on CC and SD for the Federal Government of Mexico City at VIU

mexico_logoA delegation of 15 officials of the Federal Government of Mexico City visited Venice International University October 22-29 to attend a training course on Climate Change and Sustainable Development at Urban Level.

The training was organized by the TEN Center of the Venice International University in collaboration with the Italian Ministry for the Environment, Land and Sea and the ICE-Italian Trade Promotion Agency of Mexico City.The 15 participants included Director Generals of the Ministry of Environment, the Ministry of Works and Services,the Natural Resources Commission and the Public Information Office of Mexico City Government.

The training was designed as to involve the participants in lectures, site visits, group works and discussions on the key issues that cities have to manage (e.g. waste management, transport, energy consumption, water and waste water management, food security and safety) taking into consideration the new challenges that climate change is posing, and using Italy and Venice as main case studies. Attention was also given to communication, education and information of the public issues.

The active participation and exchange between the 15 Mexican officials and the Italian experts brought to explore practical solutions for Mexico City, creating the basis for further cooperation between the two countries.
