In our rapidly changing world, risks occur, from ongoing changes (such as those occurring in the climate), to more sudden-onset risks, such as mutating microbial pathogens. The "Identifying emerging risks for environmental policies" Future Brief, published by Science for Environment Policy, explores some of the tools and approaches that can be used to provide an early warning of environmental risks, including strategic foresight tools, citizen science and state-of-the-art monitoring technologies.
