Energies for Future Urban Environment Internat. Conference
25 June 2013

enel_foundationNowadays, more than half of the world population lives in cities. By 2030 this fraction will raise to 60%, with a large part concentrated in developing countries. Together with the fast urbanization, new challenges and critical phenomena arise, such as social inequalities and poor living conditions, resource scarcity, pollution and climate change.

To address this issue, ENEL Foundation organizes the International Conference "Energies for Future Urban Environment" which will take place in Rome on July 2-3, 2013. The conference will explore and discuss new challenges and trends on the future of urbanization involving international experts from the academic and institutional realm.

The event aims to provide a context where international stakeholders interweave their visions on different key topics related to the future of urbanization such as:

  • the phenomenon of megacities;
  • the use of energy and resources in the future cities;
  • the cities as nodes of the global socio-economic network;
  • the paradigm of smart cities and the new role of citizens in the digital urban environment.

The conference is devoted to experts, academic scholars, representatives of institutions, and policy makers interested in cutting-edge topics of sustainable urban development.
