The 2009 first delegation from the Tianjin Science and Technology Committee will arrive in Italy on Saturday September 12 to attend the “Eco-city: application and case studies†training course. This training course will cover the many different characteristics a city should feature to be defined an “eco-cityâ€. As a start, the concept itself of “eco-city†will be discussed. The program will then go in detail focusing on waste management, sustainable mobility, eco-building and energy efficiency. Considering that Tianjin is an industrial city, VIU decided to devote several lectures to green industry and environmental certifications. To put theory into practice, participants will visit the Residence Acqua Azzurra as a good example of eco-building in the Veneto Region. They will also have the chance to visit a company that collects and recycles waste from electrical and electronic equipment with a practical demonstration on how to dismantle and separate the components of a computer.
