A New Life for Porto Marghera Industrial Area
13 April 2012

IndustryVeSeveral Italian industrial sites are known to be severely polluted but they could soon be given a new life.

On April 16, 2012 the Italian Minister of the Environment Corrado Clini will be in Venice to sign an agreement for the environmental reclamation and redevelopment of the industrial area of Porto Marghera. The aim is to allow new green industrial activities to settle in Porto Marghera, fostering the economic growth of the area without endangering the delicate environment of the lagoon of Venice.

The agreement signed in Venice will be the first step towards the reclamation of all the 57 Italian industrial sites which have been identified all over the country and are still in need of interventions. To this purpose the Italian Ministry for the Environment allocated 2.2 billion Euros, with the possible addition of financial resources coming from private entities.

Another similar agreement is expected to be signed at the end of April for the redevelopment of Trieste industrial area.
