CLIMATE-ADAPT_Climate Change Adaptation in Europe
28 March 2012

EUcomm_logoThe new European Climate Adaptation Platform (CLIMATE-ADAPT) was made available online on March 23 by the European Commission with the aim of offering a new tool to prevent and minimize the effects of climate change on the environment.

The website, developed thanks to the joint effort of the scientific and political community at European level, will allow both national and local governments and the general public to get updated and scientifically sound information and solutions for adapting to climate change.

Information made available on the website include the expected climate change in Europe and current and future vulnerability of regions and sectors, together with a summary of national and transnational adaptation strategies and a case study search tool to find adaptation solutions already adopted in the European member states.

CLIMATE-ADAPT will be hosted and managed by the European Environment Agency in Copenhagen. It will also contribute to the development of a comprehensive EU Adaptation Strategy that the Commission plans to adopt in the beginning of 2013, with the goal of supporting the needs of member states, transnational organisations and local stakeholders with appropriate actions at EU level.
