ENEA RAEE 2010 – Report on Energy Efficiency in Italy |
27 January 2012 |
The first yearly Report on Energy Efficiency in Italy was presented on January 20 by ENEA, the Italian National Agency for new technologies, Energy and sustainable economic development. The report is based on 2011 data and takes a picture of the state of energy use and energy efficiency in Italy. According to the document, Italy has already overcome the target set for 2010 and saved 47.711 GWh so far. The most useful policies in terms of energy saved are stricter energy efficiency standards in the building sector and white certificates, the latter having also the advantage of requiring the lowest public investment per kW/h saved. By evaluating the cost-effectiveness of the different measures and by presenting a clear overview of the savings achieved in the various sectors, the report aims to act as a feedback on the success of energy efficiency policies and will prove a useful tool for policy makers for an easier identification of the most effective actions to be fostered in the future.
