On January 18 2013, ENEL and Veritas Ecoprogetto signed a new agreement for the combustion of 70.000 ton per year of Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF) in the Fusina "Andrea Palladio" thermal power plant over the next three years.

The RDF is produced in the Veritas Ecoprogetto plant starting from the residual fraction of the municipal solid waste separate collection and since 2007 has been used in the neighbouring ENEL power plant for the production of electric energy in co-combustion with coal. After a period of experimentation, RDF has been burnt in increasing quantity, reaching nearly 60.000 ton in 2012.

This rising trend in the consumption of RDF confirms the success of the project, which allows the disposal of the non-differentiated fraction of the entire Province of Venice waste production without transporting it over long distances and limiting the use of landfills.
