Ecomondo (literally Ecoworld) is one of the most important fairs on green technologies and lifestyles both at national and international level. It is also a place where new models of economic growth, driven by a focus on innovation and clean technologies, are discussed by different stakeholders, such as trade associations, government, NGO's and all types of industries and goods manufacturers.

Amongst other issues, in the 2011 edition the following themes will be discussed: reuse of waste across industry, waste water reuse, prevention of industrial hazards, smart cities and best practices, and trends in sales of recycled materials.
In the expo area several companies and associations will have the opportunity to present successful projects and green innovations, and an entire area of the fair will be dedicated to Urban Design Solutions. In addition to the exhibition, a series of workshops and conferences on industrial ecology, air and water pollution, waste treatment and reclamation will be organized.

Focused on green industry markets trends over the next few years, the fair's main objective is to provide "a single point of interaction between business and research to discuss the best ways of doing ethical, responsible business".
