The Italian Meteorological Society (SMI) is a scientific non-profit organisation which was founded in Turin on September the 3^rd, 1880. It closed during the Second World War and was reopened in the year 2000. The mission of the organisation is to promote the study of meteorology and all related sciences, and to communicate the importance and utility of these studies to the whole Italian population.
