SITE VISIT OBJECTIVES
Speak about energy management in Italy and present an example of the use of waste for energy recovery. In fact, the coal fired plant Andrea Palladio of Fusina is one of the first in Italy carrying out experimentation on the use of Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF) as fuel for the production of electric energy.

INSTITUTION/COMPANY PROFILE
Born in 1962 as Italian National Electricity Board, ENELis today an industrial holding company; in the last decades, together with the "company formation" of traditional operations (production, transmission and distribution), steps have been taken to develop also new business areas. ENEL operates with conventional energies like coal and oil, as well as with renewable energies. Some branches of the company are in fact devoted to research and applications of the new technologies like wind, solar, hydroelectric and geothermal energy.
