To present an example of sustainable tourism and to visit an island that is part of the cultural heritage of Venice.
INSTITUTION/COMPANY PROFILE
Situated near the coast of S. Erasmo, the Lazzaretto was built in XVI century. Used by the army until this century, especially during the I World War, the island of Lazzaretto Nuovo was abandoned in 1975 and given in concession to a voluntary association, the Arkeo Club, which insures the custody and management of the island.
Nowadays it hosts an important archaeological site and it is used also for educational program. The Lazzaretto is also included in sustainable tourist routes and the island results relevant also for its flora and fauna.
