INSTITUTION/COMPANY PROFILE
San Benedetto S.p.A. is one of companies producing bottled water and soft beverages in Italy. It was born in 1956 in Scorz?®, near Venice, and the plant was constructed on an artesian well still in function.
The expansion towards foreign markets started in the early '90s and it keeps growing. Nowadays San Benedetto group is active in 80 Countries.
Profits in 2008 reached 837 million Euros; employees are 2300.
The company utilizes advanced technologies able to accelerate the production process and to guarantee the bottles are not dangerous. Half litre plastic bottles utilize now only 11 gr of plastic. The experience and know-how acquired in the past 25 years led to the production of this eco-friendly bottles line. This is a great result coming from research investments that, since 1983, were able to reduce the quantity of plastic, and therefore energy used, up to 30%. The weight difference between 1985 and 2007 saved 16.700 million tons of PET.
The quality of the water is guaranteed by 800 analyses daily.
In 2009 the company signed a project with the Italian Ministry for the Environment, Land and Sea, which aims at reducing even more the emissions of CO2 coming from the entire bottled water life cycle.
