Objectives:

• To provide an overview of the air quality situation in PoValley, with a focus on Veneto Region;
• To emphasize the importance of the air quality survey as instrument for the action planning;
• To describe the project of optimization of air quality network in Veneto;
• To provide some examples about the current situation of air quality in Veneto
• To describe some operative local measures concerning the air pollution control.

An overview of the air quality in Europe shows the particular situation in Po Valley, with significant problems of air pollution. The knowledge of the spatial and temporal variation of the most critical pollutants is fundamental to undertake effective actions in order to manage the atmospheric pollution. A brief description of the optimization project concerning air quality network in Veneto is given to show the actual situation of network. The historical series of air quality data are an instrument to define actions in order to reduce air pollution. Some examples of economic sustainability of these actions are briefly explained.
